Antoni Potemkowski

Dear all

It is with great sorrow and sadness that I have to inform you that Antoni died in an traffic accident in Warsaw three weeks ago. He is deeply missed by his wife Katarina and their two wonderful daughters.

He was apparently hit by a car while crossing a street and died on the scene. Antoni had just completed his contract in UAE and was scheduled to return in April to the dept of Surgery in Kalmar , Sweden.

Antoni was a frequent participant in the AIVS meetings, and I think he had planned to be in Chamonix this year.
He will be missed by many colleagues and friends.

I enclose a copy of the announcement in the local Kalmar newspaper.

I will not be in Chamonix but I am sure the AIVS group will honor his memory.

Antoni Potemkowski har avlidit

Familj 2008-02-14 Läkaren Antoni Potemkowski, under flera år verksam vid länssjukhuset i Kalmar, har avlidit i en ålder av 57 år. Han omkom nyligen vid en trafikolycka i Polen.

Antoni Potemkowski arbetade mellan åren 1986 fram till 1999 på länssjukhusets kirurgavdelning i Kalmar. De senaste åren har han varit verksam i Dubai och hans planer var att komma till Kalmar och åter börja arbeta på länssjukhuset under våren.

I Polen arbetade han som kirurg i tio år på Akademiska sjukhuset i Warszawa.

Familjen sökte asyl och kom till Kalmar i slutet på september 1985 och fick senare uppehållstillstånd.
