Andrew Michalski MD, PhD, FRCS (C) was a long-serving and loyal member of the AIVS group, known to everyone, he will be sadly missed. Born May 29 1936 in Warsaw Poland – Died January 15, 2012 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. According to his wishes, Andrew will be buried close to his beloved cottage in Kaszuby, at St. Mary’s Church in Wilno, Ontario.

A mass in celebration of his life will be held there later in the summer of 2012. His family write: “We lost a larger (and louder) than life figure, Dr. Andrzej Michalski, to the heavenly ski slopes on January 15, 2012. Andrzej lived fully if not perfectly.


He was a passionate skier, traveler and life-long learner who passed on those passions to his children and grandchildren. Even in his brief but intense illness, Andrzej remained true to his calling as a physician and healer, and understood that even with all the medical help available, there comes a time when the outcome is only in the hands of God. Andrzej’s philosophy of life was to savour every moment and to be curious about the world around him and he inspired all his children to love travel, reading and, his other passion, skiing. His energetic approach to life and the high value he placed on family left us with great memories to cherish forever. We can only hope to leave as large a legacy of love.”
